Actually, it is simply 'not done' not to serve fresh juice to your guests these days

Roy Spekhorst, one of the owners of Pelle's Eten & Drinken in Deurningen, explains that the establishment has been around for a while: "We've owned Pelle's Eten & Drinken since 2009, almost 16 years now, but the Beer & Eatery has been around much longer. For us, it was just a Beer & Eatery; we've made quite a few adjustments and additions over the past 16 years."
Roy continues: "It was a big dream of ours to be able to brew our own delicious beers. It took us a while to realize these plans, but we've been brewing our own house beers since 2024. Naturally, we have them on our drinks menu. If you'd like to try our house beers, you're welcome to come to our brewery."
Also something sweet
And that's not all, we also have a chocolate room. There, we make our own delicious chocolate and bonbons. Delicious to enjoy yourself, but even more fun to give as a gift. For a birthday, for example, but certainly also for a special occasion like graduation, wedding, or Saint Nicholas and Christmas," Roy says enthusiastically.
“Which is really nice, because you know chocolate and beer really go well together, and you can enjoy them both with us if you want!”
A broad customer base
Their clientele is just as broad as their selection: "We really see a wide variety of guests. We welcome local youth, families of all ages, and of course, the elderly. They all come for a drink, lunch, or a delicious dinner."
Roy continues: "We also welcome many business guests. For a fun staff party or dinner, or for a business meeting, perhaps with lunch or dinner. Everyone is truly welcome, and all our guests come to us in their own way or at their own request."
We can accommodate quite a few guests
At Pelle's Eten & Drinken, they can serve a considerable number of guests: "We have room for about 200 guests inside. It's always a joy when the Bier & Eetcafe is completely full. And when the terrace is open, from April through September, we can also accommodate another 200 guests. Yes, that's quite a challenge for all of us on lovely warm, busy days. But that's what we do it all for, of course!"
"We do still have a terrace outside of peak season, but it's exclusively for our business, and only the spaces available are those that fit under the parasols. This means we're talking about a few fewer guests who, when the weather improves, we can serve outside," says Roy.
Fresh and healthy
When asked if guests ask for fresh and healthy products, Roy laughs and says, "You know, here in the east, we're always a few years behind the rest of the Netherlands. Our guests don't really ask for it, but we always serve fresh products, and what we do serve is simply good."
"We currently serve fresh orange juice from an automatic juicer and no longer from bottles. It's simply not done these days not to serve fresh orange juice to your guests. People can definitely tell if the juice in the glass is freshly squeezed, and it's considered important when they ask for it," Roy explains clearly.
Why an automatic press machine?
“That really has to do with the demand from our guests for fresh juice.
"We were initially serving from a bottle, but we noticed our guests didn't like it very much. So we switched to a manual machine. Soon, we couldn't keep up and switched to a smaller model. And as always, when the fresh juice is good, demand increases. So we had to make the decision to upgrade to a slightly larger machine. The Zumex Versatile Basic Orange turned out to be the right machine for us," explains Roy.
Why a Zumex?
At Pelle's Food & Drink they wanted to switch to a smaller model on a
professional machine: “If you know that it If it really has to happen and you have to switch, you want the machine as soon as possible. Ideally, right from the moment you've made the decision! But of course, that's not always possible.
“We chose Zumex because it has a good reputation and is a well-known brand. Now, I have to say, once the purchase was finalized, the automatic juicing machine was installed quite quickly.
"It was delivered. Not immediately, but certainly fast enough to serve our fresh orange juice with more ease," says a satisfied Roy.
Takes a lot of work off your hands
The automatic juicer takes a lot of work off our hands, it's fast, and we squeezed a crate of oranges in no time. We always try to time it so we have enough juice for the day.
"Unfortunately, sometimes guests prefer freshly squeezed orange juice, and we run out. That's no problem at all, because we squeezed out enough juice in no time. The advantage is also that everyone of us can easily handle the Zumex," says an enthusiastic Roy. Oh yeah, that cleaning thing.
Cleaning itself isn't fun, but luckily, with this machine, it's not: "Yeah, nobody likes cleaning. But the machine is quick to disassemble, the parts are dishwasher-safe, and before you know it, the machine is clean again for the next press. So it's definitely doable, and we can say, 'Luckily, it's not a soft-serve ice cream machine,'" says Roy with a big smile.
We serve in a wine glass
Roy indicates that they prefer to serve the freshly squeezed juice with a bit more juice: "Even though we serve the fresh juice in a standard glass, we still want to give it an extra touch. That's why we serve it in a wine glass. This way, you get a bit more juice and it looks a bit more elegant. We all think a soft drink glass isn't appropriate."
We serve the juice all day long, but it's the most popular drink during lunch. This might also be because at Pelle's Eten & Drinken, we encourage our guests to have fresh juice with their lunch. And because all our staff recommend it, we can confidently say that sales of the fresh juice have increased significantly recently.
That will save you money on the payback period.
"As mentioned, because we've been drawing our guests' attention to delicious fresh juice, sales have increased significantly recently. This also makes it a bit easier to recoup the cost of this machine. Because let's be honest, with only five glasses a day, you don't recoup the cost of this machine that quickly. That's why I'm so happy that my staff are so happy to continue offering it to our guests. Then using and cleaning the machine will be easy and hassle-free," Roy says again, laughing.
The service is good
The machine was delivered quickly and smoothly: "Operating the machine is really straightforward. It's set up, turned on, and you can get started right away. If you have any questions or want to know more, just watch the videos."
"And if you use it a lot, parts sometimes break. Fortunately, almost all parts can be ordered through the Zumex webshop, and you'll receive them quickly. The new parts are very easy to install yourself. If you're still unsure, there are several videos with clear instructions on how to install them. If all else fails, the service department is just a phone call away," says Roy convincingly.
Highly recommended
Roy gives a clear answer: "The Zumex is definitely recommended, but be sure to ask what size or type you need. Personally, I would always go for a slightly larger model. Because, as we experienced, the gravy runs better, and then you quickly realize you can't meet the demand. With a slightly larger machine, you can respond immediately and don't have to invest again right away."
